Essential has done a great job during the last few months, attempting to right the wrongs of its past, by paying close attention and interacting with the community through its bi-weekly Reddit AMAs.
Previously, the company updated the camera app on the smartphone to have better image compression and also added a portrait mode. It also implemented the ability to livestream in 360-degrees using YouTube and Facebook Live. Today, the Essential Camera app is once again being updated with general stability fixes for the camera, including its 360-degree livestreaming functionality. The new update can be found on the Google Play Store and will appear as build 0.1.093.003.
Beyond just small fixes, the firm has also recently debuted its Beta 2 of Android 8.0 Oreo for those that are ambitious and want to take the leap. The Essential PH-1 is now available from its website priced at $499. If you are in the United States and purchase through Amazon, you’ll be able to save $50, as it is priced at $449 at the time of writing, while those in Canada can purchase it from Telus. The 360 Camera is available as an optional accessory and can be purchased for $199.
